If you cause an accident while using a rental car borrowed from our company and damage our company or a third party, you will be responsible for compensating for the damages.

To cover potential liability in the event of an accident, we provide the following insurance and compensation system. However, any compensation exceeding the deductible amount or the coverage limit of the insurance/compensation system will be the responsibility of the customer.

Personal Injury Compensation	Up to 30,000,000 yen per person (up to the vehicle capacity)

If you subscribe to the deductible coverage system, the payment of the property damage deductible and vehicle deductible that would normally be borne by the customer in the event of an accident will be waived. Please note that you cannot join or cancel this coverage during the rental period. Please apply before departure.

※Reservations made via the internet or by phone require enrollment in the deductible coverage system.

The above insurance and compensation system will not apply if there is a violation of our rental agreement or if the case falls under the exemption clauses of the insurance policy, or if a police accident certificate cannot be obtained.

If You Encounter an Accident or Vehicle Trouble

If the vehicle develops a malfunction or problem, please stop driving immediately.

If an accident occurs, please make sure to do the following four things. If any of these steps are not taken, the insurance/compensation system will not apply.

• Provide assistance to injured persons
• Confirm the other party involved
• Report the accident to the police
• Contact the rental store where the vehicle was rented

※Regardless of whether another party is involved or the size of the damage (scratches or dents), it will be treated as an accident.
※After reporting to the police, please obtain a traffic accident certificate.
※Do not negotiate or settle privately with the other party at the accident scene. Doing so will invalidate the insurance/compensation coverage.
※If the rental car becomes unusable due to the accident, the rental agreement will be terminated.

Cases Where the Compensation System Will Not Apply

※If an accident occurs under the following driving conditions or situations, all compensation systems will not apply. All damages caused by the accident will be the full responsibility of the customer.

• Failure to report the accident to the police (when a police accident certificate cannot be obtained)
• Failure to contact the rental store
• An accident caused by a driver other than those listed in the contract
• Accidents caused by serious traffic violations such as drunk driving, driving without a license, exceeding passenger capacity, or not wearing a seatbelt while driving
• Accidents occurring after extending the rental period without permission
• Settling the accident with the other party without our consent
• Vehicle damage caused by theft
• Driving the vehicle outside maintained roads such as beaches or riverbeds
• Using the vehicle for tests or competitions
• Using the vehicle to tow or push another vehicle
• Damage or corrosion caused by improper use of the vehicle
• Damage to the rental vehicle caused by an accident involving a vehicle owned or managed by the customer
• Damage to rental vehicles or signs within the rental office premises
• Vehicle malfunction caused by operational mistakes
• Damage or loss of in-vehicle equipment (excluding damage caused by accidents)
• Damage caused by tire chains, ski carriers, etc.
• Loss of tire wheels or wheel caps
• Damage caused by insufficient vehicle management
• Use in violation of our rental agreement terms
• Other accidents falling under the exemption clauses of the insurance policy

※Even if you have subscribed to the deductible coverage system or wide compensation system, compensation will not apply and the deductible amount will be fully borne by the customer if the accident occurs under the following conditions.

• Accidents caused by excessive speeding and proven to exceed the speed limit
• Accidents caused by ignoring traffic signals
• Accidents caused by failing to stop at a stop sign
• Accidents caused by crossing into a no-passing lane
• Accidents caused by illegal right turns or U-turns
• Accidents caused by using a mobile phone while driving
• Accidents recognized as malicious or intentional

Q. What is the Non-Operation Charge (NOC)?

Even if you subscribe to the deductible coverage system, if the rental vehicle is involved in an accident and requires repairs or parts replacement, the following amount will be charged as part of the business compensation during the repair period, regardless of the degree of damage, repair period, or whether deductible coverage is subscribed.

Non-Operation Charge (NOC)

If the vehicle can be returned by driving to the scheduled return location	20,000 yen
If the vehicle cannot be returned by driving	50,000 yen

※Even if the vehicle can be driven back, a serious accident may result in a charge of 50,000 yen.

By subscribing to the “Wide Coverage System” in addition to the deductible coverage system, payment of the above Non-Operation Charge will be waived.

In addition, costs normally borne by customers—such as tire punctures, damage to tire wheels or wheel caps, and cracks or damage to glass caused by flying stones—will also be waived. You will also be able to use the roadside service provided by the insurance company contracted by our company.

As with the deductible coverage system, enrollment or cancellation cannot be made during the rental period. Please apply before departure.

_※1 In cases of serious accidents due to violation of the agreement or laws, the insurance and compensation systems may not apply even if the deductible coverage system is subscribed.
